National Health Center Week

National Health Center Week (NHCW) is a time to celebrate the incredible work done by health centers across the country. This annual observance highlights the vital role of community health centers (CHCs) in providing affordable, high-quality healthcare to millions of Americans, regardless of their ability to pay. From August 4th to 10th, we honor the commitment of healthcare professionals and staff who work tirelessly to improve the health and well-being of their communities.

The Heart of Community Health

Health centers serve as the backbone of primary care in many underserved communities. They provide comprehensive services, including primary care, dental, mental health, and preventive services, to over 30 million patients annually. These centers are a lifeline for many, offering care that is accessible, affordable, and culturally sensitive. They play a crucial role in reducing healthcare disparities and promoting health equity by providing care to those who might otherwise go without.

This Year’s Theme: Celebrating Our Community Health Centers

This year, National Health Center Week’s theme is “Community Health Centers: The Roadmap to a Stronger America.” This theme underscores the essential contributions of health centers in building healthier communities. Health centers are more than just medical facilities; they are hubs of hope, resilience, and strength. They offer a range of services beyond medical care, including outreach, education, and support for social determinants of health, such as housing, nutrition, and employment.

Special Focus Days

Throughout the week, each day focuses on a different aspect of health centers’ work, highlighting the diverse services and support they provide.
